SHIELDNIGHT: FROM BULLDOG TO SOONER-sponsored by Oklahoma Farm Bureau

Wagoner High School junior Alex Shieldnight has committed to playing college football at the University of Oklahoma following his graduation in 2025. Shieldnight made the announcement Friday night before the start of the Bulldogs Class 4A playoff game against Broken Bow.

Shieldnight’s decision puts at least a temporary end to a heated recruiting battle for the highly touted defensive end. Going into Friday’s playoff game Shieldnight had recorded 61 tackles on the season with 24 tackles for loss and a team high 11 sacks.

Shieldnight, at 6-4, 235, is seen posing with OU head coach Brent Venables and defensive ends coach Miguel Chavis.

Shieldnight and the Bulldogs are in pursuit of back-to-back Class 4A state championships as they took the field for the first-round playoff game.
