CHEER AND FFA-TWO PASSIONS FOR LYNNI LANCASTER- sponsored by Advanced Family Eye Care

There are two things that occupy a lot of Wagoner junior Lynni Lancaster’s time-Cheer and FFA- and she loves being involved in both.

“When I was little, we would go to the football games on Friday night and I would see the cheerleaders performing and thought it would be cool to someday be like that, so I started in cheer when I was in the first grade.” Said Lynni.

She is a three-year varsity cheer leader who enjoys all the aspects of cheer, especially the stunts.

“I’m a base or back spot in the stunts and I think they look cool, and I like to help the team make them look cool.”

Her other passion is FFA which she’s been involved with since eighth grade.

“My older brother was in FFA in school and so when I got to eighth grade, I decided I wanted to do it as well. I picked some of the contests and activities I was interested in and that’s how I got into cattle grading and vet science and a friend of my mom’s had some sheep and that’s how I got into sheep showing. I really like meeting all the new people we see when we go to our competitions.”

Speaking of her mom, Angie, did we mention that she is also the cheer coach?

“Sometimes it’s hard with her being cheer coach because I always know when she knows things that she can’t share with the team, and I think sometimes she’s a little harder on me because I am the daughter.”

Lynni and her cheer mates will spend the next few weeks getting ready for the Game Day competition in early November.

“We’ll usually have several long practices, some being all day affairs where we learn our routine. We try to make some of these long practices theme oriented so we can have a little fun with them and not be so stressful, but it’s a lot of hard work getting ready for that competition.”
