After a couple of years of reaching the area tournament, the Wagoner Lady Bulldogs stumbled a bit last year, going 11-14 in Tony Rosebrough’s first season as head coach. But with a solid senior starter returning along with some sophomores that got a lot of playing time last year as freshmen, Rosebrough is hopeful things will get back on the winning side of the ledger in 2025.
“We’ll still be young but athletic and I’m hoping to build on last years’ experience. We return our leading scorer and a couple of freshmen who will contribute to our program this year,” said the Wagoner coach.
Leading the way as a senior leader this year is VYPE TOP 100 choice Bra’Nya Coulter (5-5, Sr.) who has committed to play at Oklahoma Wesleyan next year.
“Bra’Nya is a two-year starter who led our team in scoring last year and shot 32 percent from the 3-point line. She’s a good athlete who can play all the guard positions and was second on the team in steals and deflections last year,” said Rosebrough.
Coulter herself acknowledges her role as a senior leader this year.
“Being a leader comes with responsibility. So many of our player are sophomores and freshmen and I think the way to lead them is not by screaming at them when them but by talking to them in an instructive manner and I think that makes a difference.”
Also expected to play a key role for the Lady “Dawgs this year is Alayzia McNack (5-5, So.).
“Alayzia led the team in steals and deflections last year as a freshman and was our second leading scorer. She can score from inside and outside,” said the Wagoner boss. “She and Bra’Nya will be our two leading players.”
Rosebrough is also expecting help from Keloni “Kay Kay” Harris (5-5, So.) who he says is one of the most improved players on the team.
“She worked hard during the offseason to improve her physical abilities by running track and playing summer ball. She’s always been able to shoot the ball, but her defense has improved a lot since last year.”
Two other sophomores will also be in the mix for the Lady Bulldogs in Aniyah Jordan (5-7) and Cyree LeFay (5-6).
