TORI RETA:STANDS OUT IN CHEER AND STUDIES-sponosred by Oklahoma Farm Bureau

In her younger days Wagoner High senior Tori Reta tried lots of different activities.

“I tried several sports, dance, and cheer was just another of those activities. I had a cousin that cheered in college and my sister did gymnastics so I was kind of drawn in that direction and finally decided that cheer was where I would focus my attention because it was the activity that stuck with me and that I was the best at,” said Tori who has cheered all four years for the Bulldogs. “I like cheering on Friday nights best because of all the community support that is there.”

Tori is also busy outside of cheering with activities like FCCLA. But her academic talents shine through as a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.

“It’s an organization for people who have taken honors math classes every year of high school,” she beamed.

Her sister Corine has been a major influence in Tori’s life as you might expect.

“She’s the most positive person I know. She’s never down or dull. It’s always go-go-go. I also admired last year’s seniors who I cheered with for three years. They were always super kind to me and helped me a lot.”

As a senior on the squad this year, Tori is in a position of leadership which she takes to heart.

“I think a good leader is someone who is understanding and realizes that you have to be able to communicate with people on their own level to be effective.”

Tori and her teammates will spend the next few weeks getting ready for the Game Day competition which involves lots of hard work.

“We’ll spend a lot of time, sometimes in all day practices, learning our routines and getting ready. We’ve done well in the past but never quite good enough to make it to state so maybe this year we can, said Tori who also enjoys doing stunts with the squad where she is a base.

After high school, Tori plans to attend college and go into the health care field.
